MOBA Mobile Automation AG has been an established name in mobile automation for more than 45 years. Our know-how and years of experience in automation technology, distinguish us globally as recognized by experts in the development and production of machine control systems, identification, mobile weighing technology, and flexible software solutions. But MOBA components and systems are also used in other areas where robust and reliable sensors, controllers and operating units are required.

Management Philosophy

Corresponding with our company philosophy, loyalty and commitment are top priority not only in cooperation with customers, but also with our staff members. Therefore, an important pillar of the MOBA management philosophy is to take responsibility for all employees. Promoting employees and offering them the best possible working conditions - from workplace design to reconciling work and family life - is a principle that is practiced not only in the AG but also in all subsidiaries.

After studying business administration, Volker Harms worked at the Allgemeine Kreditversicherung Coface AG (a credit insurance company) in Mainz. In 1993, he joined his father’s company becomming commercial executive at MOBA Dresden. In 1994, he took the role of CEO of MOBA Data GmbH. In 1999, Volker established MOBA Corporation in the US. In 2004, he took over the management of MOBA Mobile Automation AG from his father Paul Harms.

Holding a doctoral degree in industrial engineering, Dr. Barthel had been head of corporate logistics, production planning and control at the Fraunhofer Institute for manufacturing engineering and automation IPA, in Stuttgart. Previously, he worked at Robert Bosch GmbH. Dr. Barthel has been MOBA's vice president for production and logistics.

David Shelstad has more than 15 years of professional experience in sales and marketing in the industry of international construction machinery.  Before joining MOBA in 2007, as a construction engineer with an MBA degree, he was employed by Caterpillar Paving Products Inc., and TSD Integrated Controls (both in Minneapolis, Minnesota).

Innovator 2018

MOBA Mobile Automation AG is one of Germany's top 100 innovators. The innovative strength was awarded the Top100 Prize on 29th June by Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke and science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar and is thus one of the most innovative companies of the German middle class. In the independent selection process, MOBA was particularly convincing in the category "Outward Focus / Open Innovation".

To be always up to date, MOBA is heavily involved in research projects and regularly cooperates with established names in the construction industry. Numerous test sites are equipped with new developments and analyzed to get a direct feedback from the practice. Tests are also taking place at the main location in Limburg. "A dedicated test track is unique for a company of our size," says Markus Schmitt, Head of Marketing and Product Management, describing the new site. Thus, regular tests and inspirations from subsidiaries from all over the world are incorporated into the latest developments of the global player.

The internal processes of MOBA Mobile Automation make up a particularly large part of their innovation climate. They are designed to specifically promote innovation products that sustainably increase quality and efficiency in construction and prepare the industry for the future. These include numerous innovation projects and the innovation platform MOBA Community, which serves as an expert forum for the international exchange of trends, innovations and visions of the future - both internally and externally.
